Hotlinking Protection
What's the aim of hotlink protection? How does it function and in which cases is it helpful to activate it?
Hotlinking is a largely accepted Internet phrase for linking to another website’s images. In other words, if you develop a website, somebody else may want to use the images you have and instead of downloading them from your website and then uploading them to their own Internet site, they could simply put links straight to your Internet site. This way, every time a visitor opens their site, the images shall be loaded from your account, thus stealing from your own monthly traffic quota, not to mention the copyright issues that can appear or that somebody can be trying to trick people into thinking that they're in fact on your site. In rare instances, documents and other sorts of files can also be linked in the exact same way. To stop this from happening and to avoid this sort of situations, you could permit hotlink protection for your Internet site.

Hotlinking Protection in Shared Hosting
You can easily shield your content if you create an .htaccess file in the website’s root folder, but if you do not have previous experience, you could use our hotlink protection tool. The latter is supplied with all
shared hosting plans which we offer and could be accessed through the in-house built Hepsia Control Panel. The protection could be enabled in two easy steps - choose the domain or subdomain for the website in question, then choose if our system should set up the .htaccess file within the main folder or in a subfolder and you will be all set. You don't need any computer programming expertise or any experience with such matters, since there shall be nothing else to do. If you'd like to turn off the protection eventually, you can see all the sites which are protected inside the same section of the Control Panel with a Delete button beside each one of them.

Hotlinking Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers
We provide you with an effective solution to secure your whole content and even if you are not very tech-savvy, you are able to take advantage of it with several clicks. The usual way to turn on server-side hotlink protection is to generate an .htaccess file and to add a couple of directives within it. With the tool which you'll discover inside the Hepsia CP, offered with all of the
semi-dedicated server accounts, you will only need to choose the site that you intend to protect and our system shall set up the .htaccess file for you, adding all the necessary content in it. You could also use this function for only one folder instead of the entire Internet site - you just have to specify where the .htaccess file needs to be set up. If you no longer need the hotlink security to be active, you'll be able to disable it with just one mouse click from the exact same section of your CP.
