Dot SE Domain Names
The .SE country-specific top-level domain name extension was started in 1986 and delegated to Sweden. During the first years after its launch, the registration procedure was quite restrictive, so a very small number of domain names were secured. Persons were allowed to grab no more than one domain under .PP.SE (“pp” stands for “private person”). Local presence was a requirement, i.e. only Swedish persons, companies and organizations were able to grab a .SE domain. In 2003, however, the registration process was liberalized a lot and, accordingly, the number of .SE domains has been mounting each year.
